This 2 week planting project took place at a farm near Crediton. The aim was to plant up a native hedge along existing fence lines, some with the aim of shade and some with the aim of foraging for the owners. We thought everything was going smoothly until we realised that the trees we had planted, particularly the fruit and nut trees, were being eaten by rabbits! Despite there being a national shortage of tree guards and canes we managed to find enough to wrap them all in smart white, and look forward to seeing them growing strong in years to come. The project was funded by the RPA scheme, which is a great way to plant up hedges on your land. Phew, lots of trees!
