A very wet late March day marks the end of our hedgelaying season. We are working for the prestigious organic food company Riverford in this picture, featuring Jim using a tracked chipper from the local company Elmstar. The first half of this hedge was laid very neatly by the company maintenance men during an in house hedgelaying training session, and SDWM were asked to finish the other half of the hedge. This hedge was very overstood, with a lot of large blackthorn in it. This hedge was ripe for a a management intervention. The result was an impression of 'fallen giants', but we are pleased with the results, and we look forward to working with Riverford more in the future, not least because of their excellent cafe serving delicious organic lunches (which goes a long way on a cold and very wet March day!)
