We worked with chainsaws and strimmers to stem the tide of gorse and bramble on a steep hillside in East Devon. It was wonderful to see our impact, using our petrol winch to trasnsport huge slugs of cut gorse and bramble to the fire site. We burned the gorse on corrugated iron elevated off the ground, so as not to scorch it, on logs. The landowner is passionate about conservation, and it is very satisfying work, having a positive impact on her field with the promise of spring flowers and a greater wealth of wildlife to come.
